Touring Chorus

For Singers in 7th to 12th Grade

For our oldest and most advanced singers, Touring Chorus (SATB) focuses on continued refinement of vocal skills, including expanded singing range and technical ability and singing in three, four, or more parts. Singers continue to develop their sight-singing skills and gain understanding of all major key signatures as well as relative and parallel minors.

Repertoire includes classic and contemporary works, pieces from different style periods and cultures, and commissioned and non-tonal works. Singers of all voice parts and with changing voices are welcome in Touring Chorus, and repertoire includes parts for tenor and bass.

Touring Chorus meets 2 times per week for a total of 3.5 hours of rehearsal. In addition to 2 major concerts with the Treble and Concert ensembles (December and May), Touring choristers participate in 6-10 performances throughout the season, as well as summer performances in a national or international tour and/or at area music festivals (such as Grant Park Music Festival or Ravinia).

A voice placement is required. The voice placement is an opportunity for potential singers to meet with the ensemble conductor and for the conductor to find out where singers will find the most success at Anima!
